Sorry for lack of posts ...

We've been very busy. Work is hectic for both Ben and me. All three of us got some ick over the last week that included body aches and low grade fever for a couple of days. We hired a new nanny who started yesterday and is working out great so far. Miranda really likes playing with her. Of course that means we had to prepare for the new nanny. It's amazing how much more food you need to buy just because a little thing like Miranda is going to be eating lunch and two snacks at home now. Here's a picture to tide you over until we have more interesting updates to share.

Or not ...

As some of you may have already heard, our fabulous nanny that was going to start Monday called this week to say she was taking a different job. I think I'm over most the stages of grief now and day care was able to extend Miranda's spot indefinitely at this point, so we are kinda back at square one. We hope to be able to locate another even better nanny, but it is a bit more scary since we won't personally know any of the references.

In other news, Miranda has been taking a few unassisted steps since last weekend and we will try to get some video this weekend for the blog. She also has three teeth now with two more racing to be #4 and #5.

Question for all you other mothers out there ... when did you start brushing your children's teeth? We got one of those gum brushes because we thought day care required it (they didn't) but Miranda is less than interested in tooth brushing at this age. Suggestions?

One more week

I am excited to announce that we are about to start Miranda's last week of day care. In the last eight weeks we have experienced six weeks of colds, two mystery fevers, a case of bronchitis that has us on our fouth week of nebulization, two fights with other babies that resulted in Miranda losing her balance and hitting her head, and one other head bumping incident. We also had an incident where the day care gave out Miranda's last name and room number to another parent who simply told the front desk he worked with me. Yes, I am very excited to announce that this is Miranda's last week of day care, indeed.

Instead, we will be employing a nanny who comes to our house everyday to care for Miranda. Our nanny comes highly recommended from a good friend and former employer. I've heard her praises for years and seen her work first hand with my friend's children. Everyone I've talked with that has employed a nanny says that there will be amazing changes in Miranda's health and demeanor. Miranda always has a pretty good demeanor, but I can't wait until she reclaims her health!

I promise I'll just stay here. Don't send me back to day care!
