I am excited to announce that we are about to start Miranda's last week of day care. In the last eight weeks we have experienced six weeks of colds, two mystery fevers, a case of bronchitis that has us on our fouth week of nebulization, two fights with other babies that resulted in Miranda losing her balance and hitting her head, and one other head bumping incident. We also had an incident where the day care gave out Miranda's last name and room number to another parent who simply told the front desk he worked with me. Yes, I am very excited to announce that this is Miranda's last week of day care, indeed.
Instead, we will be employing a nanny who comes to our house everyday to care for Miranda. Our nanny comes highly recommended from a good friend and former employer. I've heard her praises for years and seen her work first hand with my friend's children. Everyone I've talked with that has employed a nanny says that there will be amazing changes in Miranda's health and demeanor. Miranda always has a pretty good demeanor, but I can't wait until she reclaims her health!

Week 1 Recap
So after a not so great transition week, Miranda started day care full time this week since I am back at work. Ben gets up with Miranda in the morning, gives her a bottle, breakfast, a little bit of play time, then gets her dressed and off to day care. I pick her up after work and when we get home, we eat dinner, followed by more play time, bath, bottle and bedtime. Ben usually gets home in time for dinner as well.
Miranda did not cry most of the week when Ben dropped her off at day care and the teachers say that she is doing well during the day. I had intended on visiting Miranda at lunch time but the one day I tried she was napping. It's probably for the best because she would probably be very mad if I came to see her and left without her.
Wednesday is water play day at day care, so Ben takes Miranda to school in her swim suit. He got a couple of pictures, but Miranda now makes a move for the camera as soon as she sees it, so it's getting difficult to get "baby in her natural state" pictures.

Thursday I got my first call from day care ... Miranda is fine, but I fed her spaghetti and you didn't circle spaghetti on the menu, but she ate it and liked it, but you hadn't circled it on the menu ... I hadn't circled spaghetti because I was told to circle the table foods that Miranda had already been eating at home, and we just hadn't done spaghetti yet. I reassured the teacher that if Miranda wanted to try new food, it was OK as long as we knew what she was trying in case of a reaction later.
Friday I got my second call from day care ... Miranda was pulling up and lost her balance and hit her forehead on the edge of the table. There was a red mark and she cried for a while, but she was OK now ... There is a small mark, but you kind of have to look for it. It was nice of the teacher to call and let me know, but it made me think it was more serious than it actually was.

So for now it looks like Miranda is adjusting well to day care.

Day Care

This was us Tuesday morning getting ready for our first (half) day of day care. The first day was really rough. I stayed with her about 45 minutes before I left and she didn't cry right when I left, probably because she was confused as to what was happening. Miranda wouldn't take a bottle or eat and she cried the whole time, except to 45 minutes she slept since she was so tired from crying. When I went to pick her up, she was sitting with one of the teachers doing that little snuffly shudder sob. So heart breaking! She was very happy to see me, and thankfully it only took about and hour to get her back to her normal happy self.
Day 2 went better. When we got to the classroom, I put Miranda on the floor so I could put her bottles in the fridge. She started crying. I spent almost an hour with her before leaving and this time there was much crying when I left. But she did eat some, half her bottle and some pinto beans for lunch. One of the teachers took a video of lunch on her camera so I could see that she was doing better. She was crying again when I came to pick her up, but that was because the one teacher she spent most of the morning with had gone to lunch.
On day 3 she took almost her whole bottle, but still resisted eating lunch. Ben dropped her off today since he will be doing the drop-off when I go back to work and I'll be doing the pick-up. She was in a good mood when I picked her up today because she had just woken up from a nap and had a diaper change. I know that would put me in a good mood.
Tomorrow will be a long day, 9-5. Every day seems a little better so far, so we'll see how it goes.
