Driving Observations

I agree with Elizabeth and Thomas that an Obama sticker on a Prius is redundant. This morning though, I actually saw a McCain/Palin sticker on a Prius. Upon closer inspection, I decided this was likely some practical joke being played on the Prius owner by friends. I came to this conclusion because the sticker wasn't fully stuck to the Prius, peeling up on one side. It looked like the sticker was peeled off some other vehicle, presumably some large gas guzzling SUV, and stuck on the Prius with half the sticky left.

Also, I saw a car dropping off their child at school with a "Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less" sticker. And this was the car:



Yeah, no joke, someone in my neighborhood driving around a $65,000 Lexus Coupe is complaining about the price of gas, through a bumper sticker no less. Maybe if SOMEONE wasn't spending that much money on the car, the price of gas wouldn't hurt so bad.

Caucus Crashers

Today on Texas Matters, a TPR/NPR show there was a short story on my precinct's caucus.

Almost sorry I bothered ...

Unlike Rachel and Rob's pleasant evening, my caucus experience made me wonder why I bothered. We had observers from the Obama campaign who didn't agree with the way the sign-in was conducted and kept calling campaign headquarters to report voting irregularities. This was particularly odd since our precinct went two-thirds for Obama. We had Clinton people protesting the presence of the Obama observers since they were not registered voters in our precinct. The actions of the party people actually made me change my caucusing decision. Our caucus president looked to be about 103 and was easily confused. His wife, the secretary, could not do math to figure out the delegate ratio. At the end of the night, the voters in the precinct were satisfied that the outcome was fair and correct, but both sides were threatening to protest so I have no idea if my vote will even be counted.

My Weird Wednesday*

Yesterday John McCain came to my place of employment for a town hall. Since it was not open to the public, there wasn't any national coverage of the event, but I did find some local coverage and a picture where you can actually see me standing way in the back. I love being tall.
