Chatter Box

In November Miranda was reassessed for her speech delay and was not only caught-up her three month delay, but ended a few months ahead in development. She is quite the chatter box now. One of the cute things she says these days is the proclamation "I a nice little girl" after doing something sweet like giving a spontaneous hug or kiss. She has also developed a procrastination technique involving telling a story since she knows we have been encouraging her to talk. In fact, Miranda has learned other manipulation techniques that appeared to be tailored specifically to each parent. For me, she tries to procrastinate by cleaning up or putting away things. But what I find really funny is how she has Ben totally figured out.

The other day she was having a tea party with her stuffed animals and she pulled out her leapster laptop. Ben explained that tea parties were for eating and socializing and that if she wanted to play with her laptop, she needed to put up the tea party. She looked at Ben and told him "Need to find music for Kangaroo". Huh? Seriously? And she did. She sat down next to her stuffed Kangaroo and hit the music button and showed Kangaroo the screen. How could Ben say no to that?

Fortunately Miranda is well tempered and we haven't had many issues with the terrible twos, but it does appear that she will be a little drama queen. Miranda has been practicing her fake tears that crack up her as well as Ben and I.
