It is in the bag

So for you frequent travelers out there, what is the worst, non-life threatening thing you can hear while traveling?

If it is "Is there a doctor on the plane?" then we can check that one off the list. About one hour before landing in Frankfurt headed back to the states with Miss Miranda, we got that one. I was briefly concerned that this may cause us to land somewhere other than Frankfurt and cause more delays in our already agonizingly long trip. Luckily what ever the issue, the passenger wasn't so bad off and we stayed on course.

If it is "We don't know where your bag is located" and that bag happens to contain everything you packed for your new 9 month old child, the last of the gifts you needed to give in order to get custody of your new child, and 90% of what you packed for yourself (Ben got his bag), then we can check that one off the list as well. It has been nine days now since we made the initial report of a lost bag and Lufthansa still has no information for us so I'm not holding my breath that we will ever see this bag again. We are now convinced that "bag" will be Miranda's first word. Ben will ask me if we have this or that for Miranda, and my response is very frequently, "it is in the bag."

We did manage in Kazakhstan without the stuff we packed for Miranda through borrowing some things (thanks again Amelia, Mark, and especially Noah!) and purchasing others. We also bought travel insurance, so when I can find a few minutes to send in our claim form, we will get reimbursed for the stuff we had to purchase in Kazakhstan. Unfortunately we have to wait 30 days after Lufthansa stops looking for our bag to get reimbursed for the contents. I am so glad we won't be flying again for at least 6 months.

Gosh, that sounds really frustrating! Here's at least one bright side: since the stuff for Miranda was new, she hopefully wasn't attached to it yet, so you're not also having to endure "I want my XXX!" disappointment from her on top of it all. Maybe?
